Our Fingers are Crossed

On May 9, we are supposed to be here: (Cancun)

Photos courtesy of my parents at the resort we are meant to stay at.

However, with the Swine Flu outbreak, flights to Mexico are being cancelled through May 6th...as in 3 days before we leave. If the outbreak gets worse, they will extend it.
We've had this trip planned for a year. All my family is meeting down there.
I need the beach! I need chips and salsa! I need to speak some espanol!
Does anyone have any good plan B suggestions? San Diego is the best I've come up with so far.
GO AWAY SWINE FLU!!!

What about Miami? Hopefully it doesn't get cancelled!

oh, man, that would be a bummer if a vaca that has been a year in the making gets cancelled bc of some stinkin swine flu... Good luck! I've got no cheap brilliant ideas. Southern Texas doesn't sound fun and exotic enough. :)

I hope you can make it there!! That would be so nice to bask in the sun! However.. Cali has sun too- I don't know what places you've been to here in Cali, but until you make it to Cancun...

i don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but it's getting a lot worse. two days ago Mexico had 600 cases and 50 deaths, today they have over 1600 cases and 103 confirmed deaths. I'm not sure i'd go anywhere near Mexico (i.e. Texas and Cali) right now. So sorry.

Courtney, I strongly recommend NOT going to Mexico. As you know I went in Jan. and am still battling effects from Hepatitis A and a skin eating virus. This illness has been so hard on me and my body 3 months later. I am questioning even going back to Mexico ever again. I hope you guys chose to go somewhere else no matter what the outcome is. This is what the CDC says.

"At this time, CDC recommends that U.S. travelers avoid all nonessential travel to Mexico." Visit this site:

Love you and don't want you to have to be sick it is soooo awful; I promise it's not worth it.

Thanks for visiting our blog! I love keeping in touch that way.
Yes, her name is Brianna Wheeler. I don't know her maiden name. She went to BYU. Her husband, Justin, is in the same year of med school as my husband, Eric. She's awesome!

we are in Columbus, Ohio. Eric is just about to take the boards. We've got 2 more years here, and then off to residency somewhere.

We are supposed to spend Christmas with my fam in AR this year, but we don't have much of a break. I think Eric is finished on the 24th of December. yuck. So we'll see how it all works out. We might end up in AR for New Years instead.

My parents are flying to Mexico this weekend. I don't think their flights got cancelled. Is it only some airlines?

My friends flew to cancun on Monday ... there flight wasn't canceled. I'm so worried about them though especially since she is 6 months pregnant!! Mark and I had a trip to Cancun planned for this August but I'm changing it! ... probably to either Peurto Rico or Jamaica. You can find such great deals right now. I hope you guys end up with a great vacation either way!

thanks girl! i'd do it just for you!

UPDATE: Usually you can only print internet coupons twice, but the one for that gel was letting me print it like crazy. I printed it four more times and got four more items for .82 cents each. But, since you technically pay $6.64 out of pocket and then get $5 to use next time... I decided not to go too crazy. Plus, I read the coupon again and its not just for the gel pictured, its for all got2B products. So, i got some voluming mouse for me too.

p.s to answer your questions, i get four copies of the paper because i get more coupons (the same ones, and the same paper).
If I find an item for free or a really good deal, then i'm going to want to get more than one. So, if i get four papers, i have four coupons for that item. 4 is just a got start becuase its not like we have large families. I know women from those blogs that get 9 copies of the paper! But, also, if you can get people to give you their coupons from their sunday paper.. (alot of people don't use them) then that saves you money. But, it really pays for itself. I pay about $9 a month. I go shopping about once a week-- for that weeks deals. I'm lucky because Albertsons and Walgreens (the two main stores i go to) are right down the street and right across the street from each other. For the ocassional rite aid trip i make, its right on my way to work, so i try and stop by on my way to and from.
