Life

So, our fridge goes out yesterday. We bought it TWO weeks ago. It was a nice fridge and it worked well for two weeks. Good price, no warranty. Of course.

Life is funny. Because two weeks ago, our car broke down. On the same day that our car broke down, I had just bought all new tires for it. I was waiting for a "good month" before we bought new tires, but the cute grandpa @ Wal-Mart convinced me to go for it- "M'aam, your tires are dangerously bald. I recommend that you don't drive the car anymore until you get new tires." Alrighty then, how can you argue with that?

It just so happens that all these random expenses come when we have to pay tuition for Jared and buy at least one book for all FIVE of his classes. Not to mention, we are still paying off Fridge #1.

Fridge #1...and moving expenses. It's not cheap moving, even if it's just across town. Ex: Gas (I think I made around 50 trips back and forth), carpet cleaning, new random items like toilet brushes and cleaning supplies, etc...

And a YEAR later, we receive a bill from the pediatrician that did check ups on Noah at the hospital saying we hadn't paid him (we swear that we have). Of course that is in addition to what we still actually do owe on the C-section and his NICU experience.

Speaking of doctors though, did I mention we are finally getting health insurance? So now we can tack on another $300 a month, starting...right now.

***The best part of all this for me though is the time I spend clipping coupons and planning trips to the store for sale items. Or the hours each month that Jared and I spend budgeting our money and going through each and every reciept- being accountable for every dime we spend. Or how the majority of my house is decorated by garage sale or ebay finds. Or how we quit going out to eat so that we could save on food expenses.***

It's a bit discouraging to feel like there is no control in your life even when you are doing your part.

This is a trial for me. But I am counting my blessings and I have a LOT of them. I'll keep those in mind as I go out and buy a new fridge this weekend!

hey, i know how you feel! it seems like everything happens all at once sometimes. i said to landon the other night, "does the world want us to fail?!?!" haha. because that is how i felt at the time. it was one of those... can't get ahead, whenever we think we have some extra money... moments. it helps me to remember that everything has a time and season. we won't be in school forever-- and someday things will be all worth it!!: ) all you can do is the best you can.

love ya girl.

Don't you love life?! Sorry you're going through this trial right now. Hopefully it will start looking better sooner rather than later. We're in about the same situation and continue hoping one day it will be easier. Good luck!

YOU CAN DO IT!!! Just keep praying! Budgeting is rough, but Dan and I use mint.com and it is really helpful in seeing where we truly are spending our money! The wesbite is easy to use and it will send you emails/texts when bills are due or you are over/nearly over budget.

Oh no!! I am so sorry to hear that. It's hard to understand those trials. I am glad you can still think about all your blessings =)

Ah Court, that really stinks.

You are so right about how expensive moving is - and you usually move at a time when you have no money!

Can you return your fridge? It seems like most stores have a 30 day return policy...

Good luck. I'm sure it will work out, but man it stinks now!

I'm sorry, but I had to laugh because it sounds almost EXACTLY like our life! We just moved to indiana and that was a big chunk of money, plus we had to buy new tires on our van (they said we would not make it to Indiana with how bald they were) and the radio and interior lights went out because there's a short somewhere that we can't afford to fix. So, we buy cheap little stick on lights that don't really stick. Oh ya, I just had about 4 cavities filled that were dangerously close to being root canals! Anyway, it's tough isn't it!? I always imagined myself being poor at the beginning of our marriage for a while, but actually going through it is a lot harder. But reading how you shop the sales and clip coupons and all that really does give me strength to keep on doing it myself! So thanks! And I do think that we WILL think back on these times with fondness!

Hey you sound like your handling it well. =) I mean it! Atleast your not crying in your bed about it, it's good to just let it all out!
I think everyone knows how you feel, you're not alone but I promise it does get better!

Good luck and good job venting!

Yikes. Sorry to hear it. Moving is so expensive, and I get all money crazy when we move. I'd be freaking out if we had to put cash into a car at the same time as a move. You seem to be handling it nicely though. You don't look stressed at all.

I hate it when it all crashed down at once. Seems like that happens a lot to test us.
